Introduction : Recently we undertook a captivating project to create two bespoke hanging signs for a client in Hertfordshire. The client’s requirements included precise dimensions, a specific colour scheme using Farrow and Ball Downpipe & Wimborne White, intricate carvings of the Tree of Life and a dragonfly, and traditional scrolled hanging brackets.
Design and Conceptualisation : Out skilled joiners embarked on the task of translating the client’s vision into reality. The signs were to be 600 x 600mm in size and painted entirely in Farrow and Ball Downpipe, exuding a timeless elegance. The design called for two distinct images, each carefully carved into the wooden sign: the symbolic Tree of Life and the delicate silhouette of a dragonfly. These images were to be accentuated by a contrasting colour, Farrow and Ball Wimborne White, to enhance their visual impact.
Material Selection and Preparation : To ensure durability and aesthetic appeal, we selected high-quality European Oak for the signs. The wood was meticulously prepared, sanded, and treated to achieve a smooth surface that would serve as a pristine canvas for the intricate carvings and paintwork. The team paid particular attention to sourcing timber that was sustainably harvested and ethically obtained, in line with Hartwood Timber’s commitment to environmental responsibility.
Handcrafted Carvings and Painting : With the groundwork complete, out joiners began the meticulous process of carving the Tree of Life and the dragonfly onto the wooden signs. Using CNC technology, we brought the intricate designs to life, ensuring every detail was impeccably rendered. Once the carvings were complete, the signs were carefully painted using Farrow and Ball Wimborne White, creating a striking contrast against the deep Downpipe background.
Traditional Scrolled Hanging Brackets : To add an authentic touch, Hartwood Timber provided traditional scrolled hanging brackets to accompany the signs. Crafted with precision, these brackets were carefully chosen to complement the overall design aesthetic. They not only served a practical purpose but also added an element of elegance to the finished pieces.
Delivery and Client Satisfaction : Upon completion, the two bespoke hanging signs were securely packaged and delivered to the client in Hertfordshire. The client’s satisfaction was paramount to Hartwood Timber, and they ensured the signs were impeccably finished, meeting all the specified requirements. The client was thrilled with the exceptional craftsmanship and attention to detail displayed by Hartwood Timber.
Conclusion : Through meticulous craftsmanship and an unwavering commitment to quality, Hartwood Timber successfully transformed the client’s vision into reality. The two bespoke hanging signs, exquisitely painted in Farrow and Ball Downpipe, adorned with intricately carved designs of the Tree of Life and a dragonfly, stood as testament to Hartwood Timber’s skill and dedication to creating timeless works of art.
