Description

Do you want to protect and colour a vertical wooden exterior surface? Then WoodCream is the ideal product for you. WoodCream is a breathable, hydrophobic, wax-based cream. In concrete terms, this means that the cream colours the wood, protects it, makes it water-repellent and at the same time still allows it to breathe. The water-repellent cream also ensures that the wood cleans itself. Indeed, the drops of water slide off your wood and take dirt with them on their way down. The unique cream structure also ensures a very easy application and preserves the natural moisture balance and structure of the wood.

WoodCream is available in no less than 27 original colours. These give wooden surfaces a semi-transparent, greyish or opaque look. A transparent version (#0) is also available. Although this version does not contain a UV filter, it allows the wood to age naturally, while protecting it and making it water-repellent. This transparent version will protect already greyed wood in the same way. Do you want to reduce the colour intensity of existing WoodCream colours? Then you can dilute them with WoodCream Softener.

Depending on the chosen colour, wood type and orientation of the vertical wood, the chosen colour will be preserved between 5 and 10 years. After approximately 5 years, the pearl effect (water pearls) will gradually diminish.

Instructions

STEP 1. Prepare the surface to achieve the desired result (planed, sanded wire brushed, …). Make sure the wood is dry and clean. In case of extremely dirty and greasy wood, or in case of green deposits, we recommend cleaning with Exterior Wood Cleaner. The wood should be thoroughly rinsed with water after using Exterior Wood Cleaner, and the surface should be 100% dry before applying WoodCream. Please check the accompanying technical data sheet before use.

STEP 2. Remove sanding dust from the surface and wipe dry.

STEP 3. Stir WoodCream well before application (undiluted).

STEP 4. Apply gently and evenly to the vertical surface with a block brush suitable for water-beading products, in the direction of the wood. Work in zones of 3 to 4 boards in the direction of the wood fibre. We recommend working wet-on-wet. Spread out the product in one go with the application brush.

STEP 5. If a more opaque result is desired, a second layer can be applied after at least 3 hours. Since the first layer is already water-repellent, the second layer will not adhere as easily to the first layer. Therefore it is best to dilute WoodCream with WoodCream Softener before applying the second layer. Dilute with a ratio of 9 units WoodCream per 1 unit WoodCream Softener. This ratio can be adjusted up to 1 unit WoodCream to 1 unit WoodCream Softener to achieve the desired result. We recommend spreading the product with the block brush on the first layer in one smooth motion and going over it several times.

STEP 6. Do you see that the wood needs refreshing after some time? Then you can apply another layer of WoodCream for optimal protection and colouration. Depending on the wear and tear, you can also dilute this with WoodCream Softener. In case of heavy wear it is recommended to apply WoodCream undiluted.

Tips & Tricks

Avoid direct sunlight on the surface during the application.
At high temperatures (>30°C) or when there is no shade, we recommend diluting the WoodCream with WoodCream Softener to make the product easier to apply and less prone to drying.
On rough and very absorbent wooden surfaces we recommend diluting the WoodCream with WoodCream Softener in order to apply WoodCream easily to the surface. For a more opaque effect, you can apply a second layer (again diluted with WoodCream Softener).
The tools can be cleaned with water.
WoodCream is particularly suitable for soft woods.
