Recoat Time: 10 – 12 hours
Drying Time: 10 – 12 hours
Approximately 12 – 26m² per litre depending upon the application method, absorbency and surface quality of the timber being coated.
Typical Finish:
- The surfaces of the timber to be coated should be clean, dry and free from oils, greases, waxes, silicones, old finishes etc.
- Apply an even film of holzöl Weather-Oil by brush or roller over the surface.
- Allow 10-12 hours to dry, then lightly abrade with 220/240 silicon carbide abrasive.
- Apply a second coat of holzöl Weather-Oil, as above.
- For added protection, finish with a coat of holzöl Weather-Oil Clear UV.
Using these products in systems outside these guidelines can lead to immediate and latent problems with the integrity of the finish.
The holzöl Weather-Oil should be maintained using a clean, lightly damped cloth.
If the finish becomes “tired” looking or damaged, abrade with 240/320 silicon carbide abrasive and apply a further coat of holzöl Weather-Oil.

Holzol is a super product to preserve and enhance your outdoor timbers. I have just started to recoat my gates after about 8 years, it really is a good long lasting product. Hartwood Timber are a joy to do business with, when they say they will ring you back they do so, unlike many, even family run firms "forget" to ring you back even for a £600 order. Many thanks to Sarah. Ron
Well made and easy to fit, all went together perfectly
My porch was finished in the January and I wanted to get a new coat of protection in before winter. The supplier used Holzol and so that's what I used.
It has a gel like consistency and is very easy to apply and work into cracks and shakes in the timber. Very pleased with the result.

I ordered this, (and got a really speedy delivery from Hartwood timber) for an outside bar worktop made from Tulip wood as it's the only clear wood preservative oil that I could find. It does have a strong smell, if your painting indoors, and don't put too much on at once as it seems to go a long way. It also really enhances the grain colour. I gave it 4 stars as I won't know how effective it will be until its been on for a year or so.
Thank you for your review. The oil will be effective if you keep up the maintenance of it and re apply coats when required, if you don't then it will be less effective. From a joinery point of view, tulip wood is an interior timber only and is not suitable for outdoor use.
